ZUCKER’S ACTION PLAN
FOR SARASOTA SCHOOLS
Hire a Superintendent who will stay long enough to make a positive difference for our school children
- Reduce the budget keeping the cuts away from the classroom
- Keep students and teachers safe by providing up-to-date security at all schools
- Implement an identification card for students that can be used in the cafeteria, media center and on busses so we know where our students are at all times
- Restore public confidence by improving communication with the community
- Continue to enhance career and technical education programs so students graduate with employable skills
- Strengthen small learning communities in high schools and develop curriculum for middle schools to make the transition seamless
- Get Tallahassee’s attention! As a local leader who chaired state-level committees, Caroline Zucker knows how our laws are made and how our schools should be funded
- Promote parent involvement as full partners in education
- Support parent and student choice of school (with an eye to financial realities)
- Continue to support technical career education opportunities. Students must be prepared for the world of work.
- Look for collaborative ways to identify links with the business community, not-for-profit organizations and neighborhood associations to provide necessary programs and services for our students.
- Work with the Sarasota County Government and the various city municipalities to plan for future growth.
- Work with our State and Federal delegations for meaningful local change.
We will be #1!
